Game Design Conversation with Daniel Solis

I got to spend 10 minutes talking with Daniel Solis. It was awesome. I thought game designing was a “private thing” you do. Come with an idea and then slowly reveal it to people. For me, it took me a while to reveal the idea. I was afraid of receiving negative feedback. Little by little, I began to see that it was apart of the design process. In fact, it is a very necessary part of the design process. In talking with Daniel, he is completely out there. He is very public and sharing. He has a refined process that I could connect with. I only wish I had his artistic skills. However, the way he approaches game design is great. I have been working on several game ideas. Some just theme and others just mechanics. However, the key piece in game design is having fun designing the game and make to share that fun with those playing the game. I hope to have further conversations with him and will ask if I may capture and diagram his process.
